Memorial Day Thoughts
As I was reading through all the “thanks for your service” posts and tweets today, I made the mistake of reading some of the comments. More than a few times they said things like “why are you thanking them for killing innocent people for oil?” These people are missing the point. 1). Today is for remembering all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrafice to protect what they believe in. This can, and should, be respected regardless of your views on the politics that put them in harm’s way. 2). You obviously don’t know anyone in the service, you’ve never served yourself, and you’re not in possession of enough information to condemn people you’ve never met based on biased information you picked up on the internet. I certainly don’t agree with every choice that was been made concerning how to best use our military, but I would never be so callous as to disrespect an individual member of the service because I disagreed with policy. 3). You’re an asshole. Please shut the fuck up.
Sincerely, Dan O. Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class. (2003-2007)
